Portland Port has the second largest man made harbour in the world.

Portland Port, one of the world’s largest man-made harbours, lies in the sweep of Weymouth Bay on an impressive coastline with outstanding panoramic views of the Dorset World Heritage Coast. Portland’s easy access to the main Channel shipping lanes is unrivalled along the south coast of England and, thanks to its location so close to the shipping lanes, Portland Port can provide vessels with fast and safe access 24 hours a day.

There are no restrictions by locks, tides, beam or air draft and the port’s well sheltered waters allow access for vessels at an anchorage up to 16m draft in the outer harbour and up to 12.5m draft at anchor in the inner harbour.

Vessels can be accommodated at a berth alongside up to 11.6m chart datum.
