Crownhill Fort

Crownhill Fort

Crownhill Fort has great importance today, as the last of this country’s true castles and the most important of the great Victorian forts built to defend Plymouth from attack by land as well as sea. The Fort’s buildings contain displays where you can experience a soldier’s life in the re-created Victorian and WWII barrack rooms, Victorian sergeant’s quarters and guard room. You can learn about the story of the Fort and Plymouth’s local regiment, the Devon and Dorsets.
