Clovelly
The tiny fishing village of Clovelly is secluded, but easy to find. Of course car parks had not been thought of at the time man first made his mark on the area. On the plateau above the village stand Clovelly Dykes – very old earthworks which the Romans probably adapted from an even earlier, perhaps Stone Age, hillfort.

Dunster
One of the prettiest villages in Britain. Deep in National Trust country and on the fringes of Exmoor National Park it has many mediaeval buildings, a working water-mill built in 1680 and is overlooked by the dramatic Dunster Castle. Nearby are the chocolate-box thatched villages of Selworth and Allerford. More information.
