New £10 million Cruise Berth for Poole Harbour
The port of Poole has started work on a new cruise berth in Poole Harbour, one of Europe’s largest and most beautiful natural harbours. The dredging was completed before Christmas and the contractors Bam Nuttall are currently on site, with piling commencing within 4 weeks.
The new cruise berth will be completed in November 2017, providing alongside accommodation for cruise ships up to 220 metres. Poole already provides excellent turnaround and cruise itinerary facilities within the modern port of Poole, situated at the start of the stunning World Heritage Jurassic Coast.
The beautiful county of Dorset and the New Forest National Park are close at hand and Poole provides swift access to London, Stonehenge and Bath. “Poole Harbour has been described as a jewel on the South Coast of the UK, and in recent years we have steadily grown the number of cruise ships in Poole with over 20 booked for 2017. The port has won awards for excellence in customer service, and the new cruise berth will open the harbour up to larger cruise ships from the end of this year,” commented Jim Stewart, CEO of Poole Harbour.
