Dartmouth recently handled Swan Hellenic's "Minerva II ". This 181 metre vessel with 600 passengers was turned without tugs and moored in mid stream for a 12 hour visit whilst its passengers enjoyed a wide variety of shore excursions which included visits to Brittania Royal Naval College and the Agatha Christie residence at Greenway. With the continuing improvement in passenger vessel handling capabilities, larger vessels may be accommodated, though they will probably be required to enter the river stern first with the aid of tugs before mooring to the main mid stream buoys, with passengers enjoying a short 300 metre tender ride to the shore landing area.
